Most sugar alcohols and other sugar substitutes provide the same sweetness but are safe for people with diabetes because they do not affect blood glucose levels. Second, you do not have to worry about losing your teeth. Eating too many sweets can lead to tooth decay but indulging in sugarless products will not. Moreover, sugar alcohols like xylitol can even prevent cavities. Third, sugarless products equal to sweet but calorie-free foods. Studies show that sugar alcohols do not contain carbohydrates therefore making sugarless foods and beverages ideal for dieters. Be sure to read the labels carefully though. Foods with “hidden sugars” still have carbohydrates.
